The fashion industry is obsessed with portraying picture perfect images of women and men in the media. The use of Photoshop to digitally alter women's appearances for the sake of editorial and advertising content is
one of the most hotly debated issues of the time.
To a certain extent I do agree to the misuse of Photoshop,
I also understand that marketing is a business and selling magazines with cover
girls looking bedraggled or sleep depraved isn't going to sell the products
that they intend. What I do disagree on is the complete alteration of a person's
appearance, i.e. lengthening of the thighs or shaping certain parts of the
body into something utterly different than its original form. I believe this is the part that gives both women and men confidence
issues as they are forced to chase an illusion and simply something that cannot
be achieved.
Below is an article that I found particularly fascinating as
it proves the extent that a model can be photo-shopped. The results were
