The blind Side of Fashion

Its evident that the fashion industry is starting to realise that it needs to accept a more diverse range of models. I've looked amputee models but furthering my research I wanted to look at models who are blind or partially sighted. It became evident to me that there are very few models that have done well that are blind in the fashion industry.

Amanda Swafford is a model that has done well in the fashion industry despite having an eye disease. She came third place in cycle three of Americas Next Top Model. The judges all noted that her most stunning feature was her ice-blue eyes. However, their stunning icy colour was also an indication to a potentially career-crippling disability that was to follow. Swafford is now totally blind, a result of the eye disease retinitis pigmentosa.
